About ye Yawning Apes

"A yawning ape is a perceptive ape.”

— New Scientist, 2004

"Once were ye apes, and even yet man is more of an ape than any of the apes"

 Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra

We ape, we mimic, we mock. We act.

Contagious yawning has been observed in both man and ape alike. Research suggests that this phenomenon is more likely associated with perceptual sensitivity rather than empathy. Perceptual ability is defined as "the ability to be able to deal with and give meaning to sensory stimuli". A yawning ape is a perceptive ape. We are all apes.
